We were working as textile scientists in the US. Our work involved technical applications in textile processing.
Last 7-8 years, we had been trying to clean up the polluting fashion processes from inside. It never felt enough.
Something was amiss...
July 2022
A decision was made. Lives were packed in 13 odd bags, possessions sold, and we booked one-way ticket from the US to India.
After a grand welcome in the home country, started the research to create the cleanest fashion supply chain: 100% Plant-Based!
6 months later, the impact still didn't feel enough...
We borrowed a family car and started a journey across India. 19,000 kilometers, 20 states and 200+ cities later we built a family of 150+ generational artisans and grassroot clusters across India.
The idea of Jiwya took form:
100% Plant-Based Fashion, that empowers hundreds of grassroot clusters by imbibing authentic artisanal work in our final products.
9 December 2023 - Now
We soft-launched Jiwya's website.
We curated Jiwya's exhibit- named Suvem and received a wonderous response. It reinforced our belief that people want to buy slow fashion, handmade quality and conscious apparel.
A lot is happening behind the curtains.
Beautiful designs, bespoke collections and a complete vertical integration of our 100% Plant-Based zero-waste production is solidifying.
